Thomas Eugene Dougherty, known as ' Dough,' passed away on August 8, 2012 from Glioblastoma cancer of the brain after a strong and brave fight for 14 months. This fight brought him close to the Lord and he is now in His loving arms. Dough was born on October 5, 1947 in Bakersfield, California to Joseph and Virginia Dougherty.
In 2004 Dough married the love of his life, Penny. They did everything together and knew what each other were thinking before the other would say a word to each other, which came in handy as Dough progressed in his cancer. Even though they had a short marriage they fit a lifetime of love into it. They were best friends.
After his move to Utah in 1984, Dough worked at ATK as a Policy and Procedures Analyst for 25 years where he had many lifelong friendships. He loved to play poker and go for a round of golf with his buddies. Dough was also 'Mister fix-it.' He was always wanting to make something better, and trying to invent things. If you have a blue bubble gum cigar then you have an invention by him!
Dough is survived by his three children, Michael (Lindsay), Jamie, and Shannon (Paul), and 2 1/2 grandchildren, who he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jim, and a half brother, Joe.
We would like to thank our neighbors who have helped us so much over this past year and to Penny's work for always being there for us. Also we are thankful to CNS's Hospice and Marc, Dough's favorite physical therapist who had such an amazing attitude and really tried to keep Dough moving up until his last days. Thanks also to Drs. Winters and Dawson who helped to keep his hope alive for the last year. We truly don't know what we would have done without all of you.
