Clair Howard Alderson was the son of Howard Pennington Alderson (1879-1934) and Anna M. Alderson (1878-1945), born in Albany, Linn County, Oregon on July 23rd, 1916. He was the youngest of 3 or 4 children, Irene being one of his sisters & Cecil being his brother. He lived at home while his parents were living. He lived in Albany thru 1930. Following the death of his father in 1934, he and his widowed mother moved to West Salem in Polk County, on 1589 Elm Street, per the 1940 Census. He was working general labor at the time. His beloved mother passed in 1945, and he married Jean Elizabeth (Tibbits) Wilson on Nov 27, 1964 in Marion County where he was employed as an Oregon State Trooper. They had a daughter together. He had attained the rank of Sergeant when he died from a heart attack at the age of 52, similar to his father, who had also died from heart problems at the age of 54, and his grandfather, who had died at the age of 58. Clair Alderson requested that his remains be donated to the Oregon Health Sciences University following any memorial service that might be held for him. This request was granted by April 1st, 1968, so there was no burial.

Update: Elizabeth did not remarry, but died a widow in Salem, Marion Co., Oregon on July 24th, 1998. Her remains were transported back to Wyoming, the state of her birth, and she was buried at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Sundance, Crook Co., Wyoming. There is no headstone or marker, but she is buried at block 1, lot 44, grave 3.

Update as of 2018: Elizabeth has a headstone at the cemetery where she is interred; a photo was taken by a Find a Grave member earlier this year and it was a wonderful surprise to me when she entered it on Elizabeth's memorial.
