Mrs. Don Schmidt Funeral Held Here; Had Died Suddenly. (From Albion Journal Register, unknown date but shortly after her funeral which was held Sunday Sept 9, 1962). Funeral services for Mrs. Donald Schmidt, 38, of Tioga, North Dakota, formerly of Albion, were held from the Nale Funeral Home Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Schmidt passed away suddenly at her home in Tioga from a heart attack, about 6:30 p.m. Friday, just one week after she had returned there after visiting relatives and friends here.

Her husband was working near Wesley, montana, about 100 miles away, when Mrs. Schmidt passed away. Their daughter, Donna, was with her at the time. She had not had any previous heart trouble, according to the family.

The former Allene Bernice Chalcraft was born near ellery Feb 23, 1924, the daughter of George and Winnid Woods chalcraft. Her father passed away in 1944. She was married to Donald H. Schmidt of Browns Oct 24, 1942, after graduating from Albion Community High School. The couple resided here until 1954, when they moved to North Dakota.

Mrs. Schmidt was active in civic affairs and had been elected County Treasurer of Edwards county in 1952. In Tioga, she was a charter membe of the First Methodist church, which was founded Jan 1, 1961. She was a member of the Hermosa Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are her husband; 3 children, Donna Sue 19, Thomas H 15, and kelly Don, 14 months, all at home; her mother, Mrs. Winnie Chalcraft of Ellery; 2 brothers, Harold Chalcraft of Maroe and Francis chalcraft of pekin; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ruth Ewing of Albion and mrs. Norma Doty of Bone Gap and 12 nieces and nephews. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery. Rev. Niles Stone of Norris city officiated at the services.
