She was a 1961 graduate of the George B. Hamilton School of Nursing. She worked as an LVN at Hamilton Hospital, Graham General Hospital and several nursing homes in Graham.

In the 1950s, she was a home of the Home Demonstration Club in Olney. She was a member of the Duncanville Church of Christ. She moved to Dallas from Newcastle in 1994.

Survived by one daughter - Anita Sue Dykes of Dallas; one son - John Ballew of Lubbock; one brother - Russell Cope of Weatherford; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
