Billy was a Sergeant in H Company, 2nd Arkansas Calvary, CSA, War for Southern Independence. He enlisted in Arkadelphia,Arkansas. He was captured 4/8/1862 at Island #10,Missouri and was sent as a POW to Camp Douglas in Chicago, Il. He was sent to Vicksburg, Miss for exchange. He was then captured on 7/9/1863 at Port Hudson, La. and exchanged 7/12,13,1863.
