Services for Joy C. Rutherford, 71, Tyler, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Westwood Baptist Church on North-Northwest Loop 323, next to John Tyler High School.

Mr. Rutherford died on March 8, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Born March 20, 1938, in Glen, Dickens County, he was a resident of Tyler since 1947. He graduated from Tyler High School in 1957, completed courses at TJC and served in the U.S. Army.

J.C. was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Sharon Temple and the Temple Motor Corps. He spent 27 years in finance and the banking business and also owned Rent Rite Rentals, R&H Financial Service, Apex Insulation and was vice president of loans at Heritage Bank. At the time of his death, J.C. was employed by TMS Logistics.

Survivors include his wife, Adiela Cantona Rutherford from Colombia, one son, Kyle Rutherford, and one daughter, Joy Gorkmen, both of Tyler; sisters, Grace Dubuque of Dallas, Clara Frances of Jacksonville, TX., and Margie Patterson of San Antonio; and four grandchildren, Ragan Rutherford of Alto, Mindy Greer, Marilyn Rose Rutherford and Trey Rutherford, all of Tyler.
