Ellen emigrated to America around 1903.She joined her older sister Maria (Robinson)who had arrived earlier and settled in Chester,Pa.Her sisters,Teresa and Annie ( Garvey)and brothers, Patrick and Michael would follow in the coming years.Her youngest sister,Margaret(Conlon),remained in Ireland.
Ellen married Patrick Cannon,also from County Mayo, on 23 October 1905 at St. Michael's R C.Church in Chester,Pa. Her occupation listed at that time was weaver.They lived the next sixty- five years in the Chester Woodlyn area raising six children;Mary E ( Corson),Anna Cecilia(Stoop),Nellie(Elia),,Rita(Hudak),Thomas and Dorothy Patricia( Garvey).
She died at Taylor Hospital on 28 November1971 and is buried with her husband,Patrick in St. Michael's Cemetery in Chester .The graves of her sister Maria(Mary) and her family and sister Teresa who died in 1915 are nearby

Mrs. Ellen C Cannon of Ridley Township,died Sunday in Taylor Hospital ,Ridley Park.Born in Ireland,Mrs. Cannon,the former Ellen C Howley,came to the United States 67 years ago and lived fifty years in the Chester Woodlyn area.
She is survived by her husband,Patrick J Cannon ,a daughter,Mrs. Dorothy Garvey of Atlantic City,N.J. and 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be 9a.m. Thursday at the John E Carr Funeral Home,21st and Providence Ave.,Chester.High Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10a.m. At Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church,Milmont Park,Ridley Township.Burial will be in St.Michael's Cemetery,Chester.
Calling hours will be after 7 p.m Wednesday at the funeral home
