Ms. Phyllis Buckingham, 62, of Jackson passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at her home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with burial to follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Phyllis grew up in Jackson, graduated from South Side High School class of 1967, and later retired from Woolworth Department Store as a department manager. She was an avid collector of baseball cards and a member of North Bemis Baptist Church.

She is survived by her mother Mrs. Polly Buckingham of Jackson; three sisters Linda Johnson (Barry) of Jackson, Peggy Mayfield (Phil) of Henderson, and Vickie Davis (Ricky) of Pinson; and also her best friend Bobbie Estes of Bemis.

She was a beloved second mother to all of her nieces and nephews: Christie Cooper, Brandi Scarbrough, Angela Smith, Shaun Davis, Chip Jernigan, Lesha Wyatt, and Ashley Daniel. She also leaves her two special dogs Gizmo and Priscilla. She was preceded in death by her father Charles Ray "Buck" Buckingham, and her great-nephew, Justin Cooper.

A visitation with the family will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
