He was a laborer ,working as a caulker and fireman at the shipyard and later for the Philadelphia Electric Company.He married Ellen Howley also from Co Mayo. at St Michael's RC Church in Chester,on 23 October 1905.
Together,they raised six children ;Mary E( Corson),Anna Cecilia(Stoop);Nellie(Elia),Rita(Hudak),Thomas and Dorothy Patricia(Garvey).
He and his wife,Ellen,lived in the Chester Woodlyn area for fifty years.He moved to New Jersey after his wife died in 1971 and resided with his daughter,Dorothy Garvey.
He died at Atlantic City Medical Center in 1977 and is buried with his wife in St. Michael's Cemetery ,Chester,Pa.

Patrick J Cannon,92,died Monday in Atlantic City Medical Center.
Born in County Mayo,Ireland,he was an area resident for five years.
He was a retired employee of the Philadelphia Ele tric Company and was a member of the Chester,Pa.,Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are a daughter,Dorothy Garvey of Ventor,11 grandchildren.and eight great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James R.C. church.Burial will be at 1:45 p.m.,Friday at St. Michael's Cemetery,Chester,Pa.A viewing will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m.Friday at the Plum Funeral Home,Ventnor Heights.
