He was born in Acushnet, son of the late Karl James and Maria (Ashley) Ashley. He was a 1939 graduate of New Bedford High School, and served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, as an Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd Class.
He worked with his father as a carpenter building homes, and later owned and operated a turkey farm and cranberry bogs. He was a member of the Cranberry Growers Association, and the U.S.S. Intrepid Alumni.
Karl enjoyed woodworking, riding motorcycles with his family, hunting, and especially spending time with his family.
He was brother of the late Emerson Ashley, Edward Ashley, and Barbara Ouimette.
Visiting hours will be held in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street Middleboro on Friday Feb. 17th from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 18th at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow at White Cemetery, East Freetown.
