James W. Blanchard, 67, of 1510 S. 35th St., Manitowoc, died Monday morning in Holy Family Hospital Intensive Care unit, following a coronary attack. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday in Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 am in St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Philip Hoffmann will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Blanchard was born May 19, 1911 in Tamaro, Ill., son of the late George and Anna Braun Blanchard, moving to Manitowoc in 1935. He married Alice Welnicke Dec. 19, 1935 in St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Prior to his retirement in 1976 he was employed as a shipfitter at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. for many years and a member of Boilermakers Union Local 443.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; a son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Pat Blanchard of Manitowoc; three daughters and sons-in-law, Yvone and William Kielsmeier of Route 1, Newton, Lois and Greg Bonk and Karen and David Karbon of Manitowoc; three sisters, Mrs. Arman (Mata) Rainin, Mrs. George (Rosalynn) Klein and Miss Dorothy Blanchard of St. Louis, Mo., and 11 grandchildren. A son, James and a brother preceded her in death.
Friends may call in Pfeffer Funeral Home 4 pm to 9 pm Wednesday where a prayer service will be at 8 pm.
