Emil M. Bonin, 75, of Rt. 3, Eagle River, and a former Manitowoc County resident, died Tuesday morning at an Eagle River hospital following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc, with the Rev. E. A. Radey officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Bonin was born April 14, 1887, in Manitowoc County, son of the late Max and Josephine Juranek Bonin. He married Emma Huletz Jan. 5, 1920, at Manitowoc. He was a member of the American Legion and saw service with the U.S. Army from August to December of 1918. He formerly operated a tavern at Four Corners in Manitowoc County and also operated a tavern in the Eagle River area until his retirement about 10 years ago.
Among survivors are his wife; step-mother, Mrs. Emma Bonin of Manitowoc; two brothers, John of San Francisco and Lawrence of Two Rivers, a step-brother, Charles Opichka of Manitowoc and two sisters, Mrs. Adeline Cherney and Mrs. Adolph Jana of Manitowoc.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday. Rites at the cemetery will be conducted by Drews-Bleser Post of the American Legion.
