Lenore L. Boutwell, age 84, of 3709 Custer St., Manitowoc, went home to the
Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at North Ridge Medical & Rehabilitation
Center, Manitowoc.
She was born on Sept. 28, 1926, in Norwalk, Wis., daughter of the late Orin
and Hazel (Francisco) Oliver. Lenore was a graduate of Nrowalk High School,
class of 1947. During high school, Lenore was employed at the post office.
Upon graduation she took care of her niece (private) and also helped her
brother, who was a single father. She moved to Madison and was employed with
the telephone company. While living in Madison, she met the man she later
married, Vernon Boutwell, on Sept. 23, 1950, at Norwalk Church of God. The
couple made their home in Wisconsin Rapids and had their first two children
there. They then moved to Manitowoc and had two more children. Vernon preceded
her in death in May of 1963. Lenore was employed at Woolworth's at the mall,
Big Boy Restaurant as a prep cook and also in the kitchen at Holy Family
Hospital, Manitowoc. She was also the baby sitter for all four grandchildren
born in Manitowoc. Lenore was a life long member of St. Paul's Methodist Church
until a few years ago when she found spiritual comfort and compassion with
Cornerstone Community Church.
Survivors include her three children; three grandchildren; two great-grand-
children; seven step-grandchildren (private); six stepgreat-great-grandchildren;
and one brother and three sisters-in-law (private). Nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by a son:
John Boutwell; a granddaughter: Carmen Boutwell; four brothers, Charles, Marvin,
Floyd (Buck) and Ken Oliver; and a sister: Phylis Oliver.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at the Pfeffer
Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Pastor Guy
Corrigal with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home,
Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, until 10:45 a.m.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the entire staff at North Ridge
Medical & Rehabilitation Center Dialysis Center of Manitowoc, and Dr. (private)
and nurse (private) at the Wound Care Clinic at Holy Family Memorial Medical
Center for their compassionate care, love and support given to Lenore and her
family.
Widowed at 36, Lenore took the role of mother and father raising four children
on her own. Thank you, Mom.
