Mrs. Glen (Evelyn A.) Brandt, 73, of Casselbery, Fla., formerly of 1445 N.
Eighth St., Manitowoc, died Saturday at Orlando, FLa.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral
Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Kristaps Caune will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Brandt, nee Evelyn Schmalfeldt, was born Sept. 8, 1900, at Manitowoc,
daughter of the late Louis and Ottlia Chakoski Schmalfeldt. She was married to
Glen Brandt May 5, 1928, at Manitowoc. He preceded her in death Dec. 30, 1962.
Mrs. Brandt was active for a number of years in Republican politics in city,
county and state. She served six years on the GOP State Central Committee and
four years on the party’s State Executive Committee. In April of 1953 Mrs.
Brandt was elected for a two-year term on the Manitowoc County Board, the first
woman in the city to be named to a seat on the County Board. She was a former
member of St. Paul Methodist Church and was past president of the United
Commercial Travelers Auxiliary from 1948 to 1949 and had been active for years
in the Manitowoc County Brotherhood Observance. She had moved to Florida 13
years ago.
Survivors include a son, Dale, of Longwood, Fla., a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen
Eacret, of Casselberry, Fla., and six grandchildren.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday
and Wednesday until the time of service.
