SOPHIE BRESLER

Miss Sophie Bresler, 82, daughter of the late Charles Bresler of
this city, who has resided in Milwaukee the past 20 years, died
Monday in her apartment in the Knickerbocker hotel. Her body was
discovered when she failed to answer a knock on the door.
Miss Bresler had been employed by the T. A. Chapman company in
Milwaukee until 6 years ago and had been active knitting for the
Red Cross the last year. She had been in apparent good health
until Sunday night.
Funeral services will be held from the Frazier mortuary chapel
here Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. C. H. Phipps of the First
Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen
cemetery.
Miss Bresler was born in this city in 1859, daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bresler and sister of the late Mrs. John
Chloupek. She attended the first ward school here and for many
years was employed as a saleslady at the store of Schuette Bros.

A visitor with a sister, Mrs. Mary Wellmann in Germany when the
first World War broke out, Miss Bresler was interned in the at
country for seven years. She returned to Manitowoc after the war
and made several return visits to her sister in Germany, the last
one in 1936. She returned to Milwaukee the following year.
Miss Bresler recently celebrated here birthday with relatives and
Manitowoc friends at her apartment in the Knickerbocker hotel in
Milwaukee. She was a sister of Frank Bresler, founder of the art
and antique firm bearing his name who died in Milwaukee in 1931.
Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Waldemar Eberhardt of Chicago; sister-
in-law, Mrs. Clara Bresler of this city; and eight nieces and nephews,
Eugene Chloupek, Evanston, Ill; Mrs. Al Goedjen, Green Bay; Roland
Chloupek, Philadelphia, Pa.; Frank Chloupek, Framingham, Mass.; Miss
Gertrude and Lillian Bresler of Milwaukee; Richard Wellman and Miss
Margaret Wellman of Berlin, Germany.
Three brothers, Carl, Frank and Eugene, and two sisters, Mrs. John
Chloupek and Mrs. Mary Wellman, preceded her in death.
The body is at the Philip Weiss chapel in Milwaukee.
