RICHARD J. BREUER
Richard J. Breuer, age 84, of 814 N. 12th St., Manitowoc, died on Tuesday
morning, Dec. 29, 2009, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1925, in Manitowoc, son of the late Orval and Louise
(Schuette) Breuer. Dick was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class
of 1943. He then received a degree in civil engineering from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. Dick was employed for General Engineering of Portage until
1949 when he joined the family business, Bahr Construction Company of Manitowoc,
where he served the family business as president and was a licensed professional
engineer until his retirement. Dick was a lifelong member of the Manitowoc Elks
Club, where he bowled in its league for many years and was a former member of
the Jaycees. While a member of the Manitowoc Yacht Club, he participated with
his nephews in the lightning sailboat races, using the lightning he custom built.
He was a skilled carpenter and taught his nephews the fine points of carpentry.
Hunting and fishing were important to him. He loved his cottage at Three Lakes
and spent many happy days and weeks there. Again, he taught his niece and nephews
sailing and motor boating.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at The Pfeffer
Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Alan Boeldt
with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc,
from 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, until the time of service at 10:30 a.m.
Memorials would be appreciated to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum or the donors
choice.
