George E. Brixius, Jr., 64, of 439 S. 29th St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning at home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home and 11 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Herbert Wadaga will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery , Manitowoc.
Mr. Brixius was born June 14, 1913, in Sioux City, Iowa, son of Mrs. Clara Chvala Brixius and the late George E. Brixius Sr. He was educated in Manitowoc schools and was owner and operator of George's Coin Service and Brixius Vending Co. for the past 40 years. Mr. Brixius was a well known area sports fisherman and captain of the boat, Tradewinds. He was a member of B.P.O.E. Manitowoc Lodge N. 687, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 706, Manitowoc Yacht Club, Optimist Club, Isaac Walton League of America and Seagulls.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Clara Brixius, two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Elaine) Wigen and Mr. Leroy (Delores) Staudt; a brother, Harold and a sister, Mrs. Francis (Josephine) Powalisz, of Manitowoc, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. His father and two sisters, Kathryn and Dorothy preceded him in death.
Friends may call in Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday until the time of service. An Elks memorial service will be 730 p.m. Friday and a prayer service will be 8 p.m. by Father Wadaga. Memorials may be made to JFK Prep or Roncalli High School.
