Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. T.F. Uetzmann will officiate and burial
will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
The former Sophie Holtz was born Oct. 8, 1874, at Manitowoc, daughter of the
late John and Fredericka Plautz Von Holtz. She was married to Henry Broeker at
Manitowoc Sept., 20, 1898, and the couple resided in the city until 1913, moving
to a farm in the Town of Manitowoc. Mr. Broeker died June 12, 1926, and Mrs.
Broeker returned to Manitowoc in 1935. She attended and was graduated from First
German Evangelical Lutheran School.
urviving her are a son, Walter, of Manitowoc, tho daughters, Mrs. Joseph
Berntsen and Malinda Buss, of Manitowoc, a brother, Arthur Holtz, of Rt. 1, Two
Rivers, a sister, Mrs. Hattie Hanson, of Manitowoc, nine grandchildren, 15 great
grandchildren, and a great great grandchild.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, until 10:30 a.m.
thursday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body will lie in
state until time of service.
