DOUGLAS DON BRUCE

D. Donald Bruce (sic), 64, of 2616 Meadow Ln., Manitowoc, died early Wednesday
morning at the family residence.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10
a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Duane Dionne will officiate
and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Bruce was born Nov. 30, 1908, at Chase, Wis., son of the late Ralph and
Regina Masse Bruce. He married Susan Stasiek Jan. 9, 1930, at Manitowoc, residing
at Manitowoc since that time. Mr. Bruce had been employed as a machinist burner
at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. He was a member of Boilermakers Union Local No. 443
and Musicians Union Local No. 195. He was also a member of the Manitowoc Marine
Band for 25 years and was associated with the Gene Heier Orchestra for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald, of Orlando, Fla., and LeRoy, of
Manitowoc; three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Karen) Blashka, Miss Bonnie Bruce and Miss
Shelly Bruce, of Manitowoc; two brothers, Robert and John Elliott, of Manitowoc;
and 14 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 o'clock this Thursday afternoon
and evening where members of the Marine Band will meet in a body at 6:30 o'clock
and a memorial service will be at 7:30 o'clock.
