Lois C. Bruns, formerly of 1410 Nagel Ave., Manitowoc, died on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at the Manitowoc Health a nd Rehabilitation Center.
Lois was born in Manitowoc to the late Arthur and Hilda (Willert) Wiegen. She graducated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School, and the Sherwood School of Music in Chicago. Lois was a talented musician, who for many years shared this gift as the organist and pianist at First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. She also taught piano from her home, and worked at the front desk of several area hotels. Lois was an assistant manager at the Capital Theatre during the big band era. She enjoyed telling stories about the famous stars and musicians who performed there. Lois married Otto Bruns in 1946. Otto preceded her in death in 1976.
Survivors include her three children; four grandchildren; one step-grandson; one great granddaughter; one step great-grandson; one sister-in-law (private). She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto Bruns; her mother-in-law: Lillie Bruns; one brother, Howard Wigen; two sisters-in-law: Lillian Bonin and Martha Jarosh.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at First Lutheran Church Chapel, 521 N. 8th St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Roald Harswick will officiate. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m.
The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the Bruns family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center for all their efforts. Also, much appreciation to the staff at Home Care Health Services and Hospice, with a special thanks to the volunters.
