Born Catherine Alvina Toltzmann, to Roy and Evelyn Toltzmann, in 1925, in Manitowoc, she was a 1944 graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. On April 11, 1953, Catherine married Peter, who preceded her in death in 2005. They raised their family in Manitowoc prior to relocating to Florida. She was a Hospital volunteer and worked part time at a bank and later, a nursing home. She enjoyed her garden and sewing for her family and later, playing cards; Mahjongg; bridge; dominos; rummage sales; computer games; chocolate, and especially spending time with her 12-year-old granddaughter, Kathryn.
Surviving family includes three children: Grace, Susan, Thomas, and one grandchild: Kathryn, all of SW Florida; and a sister: Mrs. Jack and Mary Ellen (Toltzmann) Rodgers of New Jersey. Many generations of cousins also survive.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo Boulevard. in Manitowoc on Saturday, April 12, 2008, from 12:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton. Her remains will then be buried alongside her husband, Peter, at the gravesite of their son, Joseph, in Evergreen Cemetery, immediately following the service. Coffee and desserts will be served afterward at Time Out Sports Grill, 1027 N. Rapids Rd. (at Waldo Blvd.). Offerings may be made to The American Heart Association, Hope Hospice, or to the family.
