DEATH TAKES MRS. F. CARUS AT AGE OF 87 Mrs Ernestine Carus passed away last evening at the home of her son, Fred Carus, at 1404 Washington street, after a short illness. Death was due to infirmities incident to old age, the deceased having passed her eighty-seventh birthday. Funeral services will be held from the Wattawa chapel Wednesday afternoon at two and burial will take place at Evergreen. The remains will lie in state at the Wattawa chapel this afternoon and evening and tomorrow afternoon and evening that friends may view the body. Mrs. Carus was born in Brumberg, Germany, February 2, 1840 and came to this country at the age of 21, settling in this city where she was married in 1854. Frederick Carus, her husband, passed away in 1896. Surviving to mourn the dead are two step children, Capt. Edward Carus of this city and Mrs. Wanda Frischen, of Berlin, Germany, and a son, Fred, of Manitowoc. Two sisters also survive, being Mrs. Carloine Ehrendreich of this city and Mrs. Augusta Laselle of Portland, Oregon.
