ELIZABETH CHERNY

Elizabeth Heise Cherny, 75, of 1223 Philippen St., Manitowoc, died Monday at
Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wesley Methodist Church,
Manitowoc, with the Rev. D. L. Stannard officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery.
She was born Elizabeth Reif April 27, 1887, in the Town of Kossuth, daughter of
the late Peter and Anna Kutil Reif. She was married in October of 1905 to Edward G.
Heise. He died in December of 1947 and in October of 1952 she was married to
Joseph F. Cherny. He died in May of 1962. She was a member of Wesley Methodist
Church and a charter member of the Ladies Aid and a member of the W.S.C.S. Society,
of the Pythian Sisters, Badger Temple No. 46, and served in several offices of the
lodge. She was also a member of the E.R.A. auxiliary in which lodge she also
served in several offices.
Among survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Fred Schwalbe, Miss Lillian Heise, Mrs.
Walter Olson and Mrs. Arthur R. Schmidt of Manitowoc and Mrs. Lloyd Kiel of West
Bend; two step-daughters, Mrs. Vlasta Miller of Manitowoc and Mrs. Frank Seidl
of Manitowoc; two step-sons, Bohumie Cherny of Port Washington and Frank Cherny
of California; a brother, Peter Reif of Park Ridge, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Oscar
Lorenz of Manitowoc; 21 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, until 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday when the casket will be moved to the church and the body will lie in
state until time of service.
