Christiensen (sic), 68, Dies at Hospital
Olaf M. Christiensen (sic), 68, of 1217 South 15th St., superintendent of Plant
No. 2 of The Aluminum Goods Company and a member of the Board of Education in
Manitowoc for nine years died Monday night at the Holy Family Hospital.
Mr. Christensen had been ill since Christmas.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Roland Schwandt will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
He was born in Manitowoc in 1883 and attended schools of the city. He married
Miss Julia Pilz in 1905. He had been an employe of the Aluminum Goods Company
for 34 years, advancing to the position of superintendent of the No.2 plant of
the company in this city. In 1932, Mr. Christensen was elected to the seven member
school board for three years and was renamed to two successive terms, serving until
1941, when he retired, due to press of other business. He served two terms as
president of the board.
He as a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Mens’ Brotherhood of the congreg-
ation, the Blue Lodge, Chapter and Commandery of the Manitowoc Masonic order, and
the 25 Year Club of the Aluminum Goods Company.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. James Davis of Washington, D.C., and
Phyllis and Marie of Milwaukee; two sons, Oscar and Paul of Manitowoc,, two brothers,
Charles and Harold of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Hartl and Mrs. Bertha Green
of Manitowoc; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Frazier Mortuary after 3 p.m. Wednesday. The casket will be
moved to the church at 10 a.m. Thursday to lie in state until the hour of services.

...RESOLUTION
WHEREAS the citizens of Manitowoc were greatly grieved and shocked at the passing
of Mr. Olaf M. Christensen, a former member of the Board of Education of the City
of Manitowoc, and
WHEREAS Mr. Christensen was a native of Manitowoc and had attended the public schools
of the City of Manitowoc and had centered his entire life in the community always
mindful of the advancement of the City of Manitowoc, and
WHEREAS he had been a faithful employee of one of our major industries for a period
of thirty-four years advancing to the position of trust in said industry, and
WHEREAS in the year 1932 Mr. Christensen was elected to the seven member school
board for three years and had been renamed to said board until the year 1941 when he
retired due to the pressure of other business, and
WHEREAS he served as president of the board for two terms, and
WHEREAS we, as members of the Common Council, fully acknowledge the many hours Mr.
Christensen has given the duties as a member of the school board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council that we sincerely
acknowledge the splendid work done by Mr. Christensen during his lifetime for the
citizens of Manitowoc, and that we hereby pass this resolution for the purpose of
paying our respects to his untiring devotion to the welfare of his community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be kept in the files of the
clerk of the City of Manitowoc and that a copy of this resolution be sent to the
members of Mr. Christensen’s family

CHRISTENSENS OBSERVING SILVER WEDDING
Today marks the silver wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Christensen,
South 15th street, and they are observing the occasion with a family dinner
at their home this evening. Mr. and Mrs. Christensen are well known residents
of the city and are receiving the congratulations of a host of friends.
Five children were born to the couple-two sons, Oscar and Paul, the latter a
student at Lawrence College, and three daughters. Marie, Teacher at Oshkosh,
Inez and Phyllis.
Mrs. Anna Christensen, mother of Mr. Christensen is also celebrating her seventy-
seventh birthday anniversary on this day and will be an honored guest at the
family dinner this evening.
