GAS COMPANY MANAGER, DANEY, DIES
Funeral Services For Head of Utility Firm To Be Held Wednesday
Thomas J. Danehy, 56, vice-president and manager of the Wisconsin Fuel and
Light Company, operating the gas utility in Manitowoc, died Sunday morning
at his home, 865 North 13th street.
Mr. Danehy had been confined to his bed several months with a heart ailment.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the home, and at
9 o'clock from the Holy Innocents church, the Rev. E. A. Radey officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Born in Indiana.
Mr. Danehy was born in Ft. Wayne, Ind., in 1886 and after completing his
schooling entered the pubic utility field. In 1910 he married Miss Modesta
Eisen.
The Danehys came to Manitowoc 15 years ago when Mr. Danehy became manager of
the Manitowoc properties of the Wisconsin Fuel and Light Company. For years
he was active in the gas section of the Wisconsin Utilities Association. In
1935 he was elected chairman of the section at the meeting in Green Bay.
Mr. Danehy was a member of the Kiwanis club and the Holy Name society.
Survivors are the widow; daughter, Catherine of this city; two sons, Robert
of East St. Louis, and the Rev. Thomas Danehy, M.M., now a missionary at
Riberalto, Bolivia. The latter, who left for his new assignment several weeks
ago, was notified of his father's death by cable. Three brothers, Philip and
Jerry of Ft. Wayne, and Daniel of California, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary
Conroy and Mrs. Walter Whiteman of Ft. Wayne, also survive.
The body was moved to the Danehy home from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei
funeral home this afternoon. The rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at
8;15 by the Holy Name society.
