From the Manitowoc Herald Times, 3 Sept. 2003:
Dorothy M. Detjen, age 92, River's Bend Health and Rehabilition Center,
formerly of 2127 Richmond Ave., Manitowoc, entered eternal rest on Tuesday,
Sept. 2, 2003 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran
Church, 1712 Menasha Ave., Manitowoc, with the Rev. Richard C. Miller
officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Dorothy was born Jan. 4, 1911 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the
late John F. and Ida Fetter Meyer. Dorothy was a graduate of Lincoln High
School with the class of 1926. She had been employed with Mirro Aluminum
for 10 years. On Nov. 4, 1939, she married Milton Detjen at First German
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Milton preceded her in death Nov.
23, 1983. Dorothy was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, one sister, five grand-
children, seven great-grandchildren, four nieces, two nephews along with
many great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and many wonderful
and helpful neighbors and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton Detjen on
Nov. 23, 1983; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Fred and Viola Meyer and
John and Geneva Meyer; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Irma and Clarence
Alter; Mollie and Elmer Pfefferkorn; and Lillian and Ray Kaufman.
Friends may call at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until
the time of services at 11 a.m.
Memorials would be appreciated to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the donor's
choice.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 N. Water St.,
Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
