Dicke Funeral Will Be Tuesday
Funeral services for William C. Dicke, 70, of 910 S. 11th?? S., retired
automobile dealer who died Friday afternoon, will be held at 9:30 a.m.
Tuesday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic
Church. The Rev. Alfred Pritzl will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery.
Mr. Dicke had been in failing health in recent years and hospitalized the past
eight months.
He was born in Manitowoc May 11, 1885, son of the late Mr. and Mr.s William F.
Dicke. He was graduated from the old West High School under the old district
system and later attended the Wisconsin Business College and Valparaiso
University in Indiana. Except for four years, when his parents were located at
Waco, Tex., he spent his entire life in Manitowoc.
When a young man he was employed in the office of the Manitowoc Daily News,
published by the late John MacFarlane, and later operated a haberdashery shop,
known as the Toggery.
In 1912 he organized the Dicke Motor Car Co. and took over the Ford Agency,
with a garage and salesrooms on Franklin Street. He was active for years in
the Wisconsin Automotive Trades Assn., serving as a vice president. He was
also a director and vice president of the Manitowoc Mutual Fire insurance
Co.
When the Kiwanis Club was organized in the city he enrolled as a charter member
and served as treasurer of the club for 15 years. On his retirement he was named
treasurer emeritus.
In the late 1930s he retired from the automobile business disposing of his
franchises to a new company.
On July 6, 1911, he married Miss Lillian Schnorr of this city. She is his only
survivor.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will
be recited at 7 p.m. Monday.
