PERRY A. DICKENS

Perry A. Dickens, 66, of 909 State St., Manitowoc, died Friday at Maple Crest
Nursing Home, Whitelaw, where he was a patient since suffering a stroke two
months ago.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral
Home and at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Claude
LeClair will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Dickens was born Nov. 11, 1898, at Milwaukee, son of the late James Layton
and Julia Riddell Dickens. Mr. Dickens was a musician, having had his own
orchestras, and was an organist at Sacred Heart Church 20 years. He worked at
Lincoln High School for the Board of Education as a maintenance man. He was a
member of the Musicians Local, Eagles Aerie 706 and Holy Name Society. In his
youth he was national three cushion billiards champ.
He married Irene Zipperer at Waukegan May 6, 1934, and the couple lived at
Milwaukee where he was a salesman for Layton Packing Co., before locating at
Manitowoc.
Surviving are the wife, a son, (private); three daughters, (private); a brother,
George of Oostburg, and three grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday where at 8 p.m. the
Rosary will be recited.
