HERMAN C. DITTMAR

Herman C. Dittmar, 68, of 1230 South 11th street, died at his home Saturday
evening after an illness of six weeks.
He was born in 1881 in Manitowoc, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dittmar and had
always been a local resident, working 17 years at the Rahr Malting company and
31 years with the Pauly Cheese company. In 1908 he married the former Louise
Strodhoff.
Mr. Dittmar was a member of the Men's Club and the male choir and the treasurer
of the First German Evangelical Lutheran church. When a young man he enlisted
in Company 11 of the Wisconsin National Guard, serving in that unit for several
years. He was a director of the German Mutual Fire Insurance company and a
member of the executive board of the Federation of AAL Insurance companies.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Schiffleger of Manitowoc,
and Mrs. Orin Meyer of Chilton; a brother Walter of Milwaukee; and five grand-
children.
Funeral services will be held 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the First German
Evangelical Lutheran church, Rev. L.H. Koeninger officiating. Burial will be
in the Evergreen cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the Urbanek and
Schlei funeral home until 10 o'clock tomorrow morning when the casket will be
moved to the church.
