FORMER LOCAL RESIDENT DIES AT MILWAUKEE
Body of J. Dittmar To Be Brought Here For Burial
Messages received here today announced the death at Milwaukee of John Dittmar,
father of Herman Dittmar, this city and up until 1915 a resident of Manitowoc,
death being due to a stroke which he suffered yesterday after having been in
failing health for some time. The body will be brought here for burial, funeral
services being held Saturday afternoon at 2 from the Herman Dittmar home, 1230
South Eleventh street. The Revs. Machmiller and Uetzman officiate at the service
and burial will be at Evergreen.
Mr. Dittmar was a native of Manitowoc, having been born here June 18, 1855. He
was married in 1879 to Augusta Hardow, who with four children, Herman, this city,
Mrs. John Johnson, Edwin and Walter, of Milwaukee, survive. Three brothers,
Gustave of Menominee, Herman of Carlotte and August of Milwaukee and three
sisters Mrs. Fred Sattler, Racine, Mrs. Julius Vogel, Milwaukee and Mrs. Louise
Spaudling, of Everett, Wash., also survive, together with four grandchildren.
Mr. DIttmar since removing from this city with his wife, had made their home with
their daughter Mrs. Johnson at Milwaukee. Decedent is well remembered here and
had visited frequently at his son’s home since leaving the city.
