Daniel ""Danny"" Dokey, age 56, of 5025 Elmer Lane, Manitowoc, entered eternal rest Monday evening, Feb. 20, 2006, at the family residence. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with Deacon Paul Kieffer officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery with military rites be accorded in his honor. Danny was born June 23, 1949, in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Robert A. and Georgine Brull Dokey. He grew up and was educated in Manitowoc. He entered the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served there with the 9th Infantry Division. He was wounded in combat and awarded the Purple Heart. He earned many other decorations while serving his country for 16 years before retiring because of disabilities. On Aug. 28, 1998, he married Joyce A. Monka in Manitowoc. Danny loved his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He is survived by his wife: Joyce; two daughters: Sandy (Brian) Hoffman, Two Rivers, and their children, Brendan, Brittany and Brady; Pamela Dokey, Two Rivers, and her children, Tyler and Ashley; one son: Daniel A. (Crystal) Dokey, Two Rivers, and their children, Kaleb, Tanner and Aiden; five stepchildren: Terry Weston, Savage, Minn., and her children Courtney and Chelsea; Todd Monka, Manitowoc, and his children, Amber, Aimee, Arika and Aron along with one step-great-grandson: Camaron; Tammy (Steve) Rusch, Green Bay, with their children, Brandon and Casey; Tracey (John) Terens, Manitowoc, with their children, Jeremy, Michael and Rebecca and two step-grandchildren: Lisa Tyson and Melissa Sleger; Toby Monka, Manitowoc, with his daughter, Shelby; one brother: Thomas ""Tommy"" (Judy) Dokey, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law: Bonnie Dokey, Manitowoc; Sue Dokey, Virden, Ill.; two brothers-in-law: Eddie Van Ess, Whitelaw; Dale Meneau, Florida; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends surviving. Danny was preceded in death by his parents;, two brothers: Jimmy and Bobby Dokey; two sisters: Karen Van Ess and Patsy Meneau; two nephews: Jeffrey and Timmy Olm. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Wednesday (TONIGHT) from 5 to 7 p.m. and also on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
