James L. Dorey, 63, of 513 State St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon, March 21, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Military funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Urbanek and Schlei Pfeffer and Reinbold Funeral Home, Manitowoc. American Legion Drews Bleser Post No. 88 Chaplain will officiate with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Dorey was born August 10, 1920, at Manitowoc, son of the late John L. and Ida D. Mueller Dorey. He was educated at Manitowoc and a graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1938. Mr. Dorey was very active in sports and a former member of the C.Y.O. softball club and has been inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame in 1982. Mr. Dorey was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Infantry as a Medic from Oct. of 1941 to Dec. of 1945 obtaining the rank of Corporal. Mr. Dorey was employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the Boilmakers Local No. 443.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy E. and Kathryn Dorey of Manitowoc; a sister, Dorothy L. at home; two nieces, Mrs. Richard (Lori) Kloida of Manitowoc and Mrs. Roger (Kathy) Basler of Cato; two nephews, Alan Titus of Manitowoc and Steven Holtz in Germany and an aunt, Mrs. Margaret (Dorey) Hensel.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Pfeffer and Reinbold Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday evening and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to the time of services.
