RICHARD J. DRUMM (d. 1962)

Truck Crushes Manitowoc Man
Richard Drumm Killed Instantly
Richard J. Drumm, 21, of Custer Street, Manitowoc, a highway construction worker,
was killed instantly about noon Monday when he was run over by a backing cement
truck driven by his cousin on the I-90 Highway near Edgerton.
The cousin, Leon Gallien, also of Manitowoc, was treated at an Edgerton hospital
for shock and returned to Manitowoc.
The accident occurred at the Goede Road intersection with the highway under
construction. Harlow Nelson, 28, of Rt. 3, Manitowoc, another construction worker,
told investigating officers Drumm stepped backwards out of the path of another
moving truck and directly behind his cousin’s backing truck. Nelson said he and
other construction workers shouted a warning but Drumm apparently failed to hear
because of the noise of heavy machinery working nearby.
