George Dueno, 79, of 1206 S. 12th St., Manitowoc, retired engineer and a former
member of the Public Utilies Commission died Sunday night at the Holy Family
Hospital, Manitowoc, following a seven weeks illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Urbanek and Schlei
Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Stannard will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. There will be graveside rites by the Odd Fellows
lodge.
He was born in Manitowoc April 11, 1875, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August
Dueno. His father was one of the early day fire chiefs in Manitowoc. At the
outbreak of the Spanish-American War in 1898 Dueno enlisted in Company __ of
the Wisconsin National Guard and served with that company in the Puerto Rican
campaign. He returned to become chief engineer at the Rahr Malting Co. and
married Miss Ernestine Kuecker.
He later became chief engineer at the public utility plant and also served on
the Public Utility Commission. He retired in __.
