ElRoy C. (Bud) Duveneck, age 89, of 942 S. 41st Street, Manitowoc, died Friday morning, September 23, 2011 at his residence.

He was born on October 20, 1921 in Manitowoc, son of the late Alex and Ella (Huebner) Duveneck. Bud attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School and then attended vocational school for two years, graduating as a millwright. Bud served our country with the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He was a lifelong member of the Manitowoc AmVets Post #99. On March 2, 1946 he married the former Marion Fischer at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on November 27, 1992. Bud was employed with Mirro Aluminum Company for 38 years until his retirement in 1985. Bud's greatest joy's were helping his daughters, taking his grandson to school, working in his garden, camping, playing the Hammond organ, and caring for his many pets throughout his life, especially his pet cocker spaniel, Chmura.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Dawn & Steve Erdmann; a grandson: Alex Erdmann; and special friends: Bob Kozaczuk & Bob Hanson, all of Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Nancy Behrendt on August 25, 1997; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Alfred & Carolyn Duveneck, Carl Duveneck; and four sisters and brothers-in-law: Freda Duveneck, Irma & John Kaminski, Wilhelmina & Orville Schleis, Leona & Don Thiele and Jake Glesner. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. Benjamin Schaefer with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the AmVets Post #99.

The family will greet relatives and friends at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 until 10:45 a.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Rauschenberger and staff, Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Home Care Nurses Rachel & Tonya and Hospice Nurse Jane. Also, a thank you to Pat Nickels, Marge Surmer, Sara Schuette and John Nowak who were always willing to help care for Bud.
