ERIC ERICKSON, PIONEER OF THE LAKES,
SAILS ON LAST LONG VOYAGE WITH DEATH AS HIS PILOT
Eric Erickson, pioneer of the lakes and for years sailing on salt water,
has embarked upon his last long voyage, with Death as his pilot. Mr.
Erickson died at his home, 616 North Fourth street, last night after an
illness that dated back several months. Death was due to a complication
of diseases.
Mr. Erickson was a native of Norway, born at Kragero, Feb. 3, 1837. He
came to America 35 years ago, locating in this city upon his arrival and
he had since resided here. Mr. Erickson has followed the ocean and lakes
practically all his life, up to a few years ago. Decedent was the father
of Rev. Peter Erickson of Edgar, Wis., and is also survived by a widow.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon from St. Paul's Norwegian
Lutheran church.
