CHRISTIAN ESPEN

Death Thurs. afternoon about 6 p.m. of Christian Espen
of a liver ailment. He was born 15 Aug. 1842 in Helfant,
Kr. Saarburg, Reg. Bez. Trier. He leaves a widow, one son
and one daughter. The funeral will be held tomorrow, Sun.,
at 2 p.m. in the city cemetery.

Sixty years of life was allotted to Christian Espen, who passed from
earth at his home on Commercial street Thursday evening. Decedent
suffered from a constitutional complaint of long standing, though he
had been confined to his bed but three days.
Mr. Espen had been a resident of the city for thirteen years and was
widely known throughout the county as the proprietor of the Espen
house and was a man of honesty and integrity. A wife and two children,
Max and Laura, survive to mourn his demise.
