GUSTAV KARL FEHRS (d. 1898)

Gustave Fehrs closed his eyes for the last time Tues. morning. He was born
18 Aug 1829 in Halberstadt in the Prussian Province of Saxony. He learned
the watchmaker profession and after his marriage, emigrated to America in 1854.
He spent one year in the eastern states, coming to Manitowoc in 1855 where he
has been a resident for the last 44 years. Despite problems - he lost several
children and sustained a leg amputation - he cheerfully persevered and was
counted among the eminent German citizens of our city. He is survived by his
widow and three children: Mr. G.A. Fehrs, who took over hs father's business
sometime ago, Mrs. White in Antigo and Mrs. Haukohl in Milwaukee. The funeral
will take place tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the funeral home on 8th Street.

State of Wisconsin County Court for Manitowoc County
In the matter of the estate of Gustav Karl Fehrs, deceased.-In Probate.
An instrument in writing, purporting to be the last will and testament of Gustav
Karl Fehrs, of Manitowoc city in said County, having been delivered into said
Court.
An Gustav A. Fehrs and Emma A. Fehrs, of Manitowoc city in said County, having
presented to said Court their petition in writing, duly verified, representing
among other things, that said Gustav Karl Fehrs died testate, at Manitowoc, in
said County, on the 11th day of January, 1898; that said instrument is the last
will of said deceased and that said petitioners are named therein as executors,
and praying that said insturment be proven and admitted to Probate and that
letters as executors be thereon issued to said petitioners.
It is ordered: That said petition and the matters therein be heard, and proofs
said last will and testament be taken, at a regular term of said County Court to
be held at the probate office in the city of Manitowoc, on Tuesday, the 1st day
of March, 1898, at 10 o'clock A.M.
And it is further ordered, that notice of the time and place of said hearing be
given by publication hereof for three successive weeks, once each week, previous
to the time of said hearing in the Manitowoc Post a newspaper published in said
Manitowoc County.

Order to hear Petition for Final Settlement.
STATE OF WISCONSIN.
IN PROBATE MANITOWOC COUNTY COURT.
In the matter of the estate of Gustav Karl Fehrs, deceased.
On reading and filing the petition of Emma Amelia Fehrs and Gustav Fehrs of the
estate of said deceased, for the adjurtment and allowance of the residue of said
estate to such persons as are by law entitled to the same) (sic)
It is ordered, that said account be examined, adjusted and allowed at a special
term of said court to be held at the offie of the county judge in the city of
Manitowoc, in said county, on Tuesday, the 11th day of October, A.D., 1898 at 10
o'clock, A.M.
It is further ordered, that upon the adjustment and allowance of such account by
this court, as aforesaid, and at the time and place herein appointed therefore,
the residue of said estate be, by the further order and judgment of this court,
assigned to such persons as are by law entitled to the same.
It is further ordered, that notice of the time and place of the examination and
allowance of such account and of the assignment of the residue of said estate, be
given to all persons interested, by publication of this order for three successive
weeks, before said day, in the Manitowoc Post a weekly newspaper printed and
published at the city of Manitowoc and state of Wisconsin.
