Mildred (Kaufmann) Fischl, age 84, of 1112 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc, died Sunday, August 7, 2011 at her residence.

Mildred was born on March 7, 1927, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late William and Agnes (Waniger) Kaufmann. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1945. On July 21, 1954, she married Paul A. Fischl at St. Boniface Church (St. Francis of Assisi Faith Formation Center).

Millie spent her life as a floral designer, beginning her floral career at Hamilton's Flowers (Flower Gallery). With her husband, Paul, they owned and operated "Elegant Florist" for 20 years until retiring from the floral business in 1997. Millie could always be found creating a beautiful floral bouquet with her black poodles either Missy or Molly by her side.

Millie was a member of the Elks BPO No. 687 Auxiliary since 1955, of which she served as President. Millie and Paul were involved in the Elks' activities on a local, state and national (Grand Lodge) level. Millie was a member of the Service League of Manitowoc County, serving as president in 1968-1970. She also was President of the Manitou Girl Scout Council in 1975 after having been a leader and on the board of directors of the Manitou Girl Scout Council. She was a life long member of Holy Innocents (St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo), a member of the Manitowoc County Historical Society, the Rahr West Art Museum and an honorary member of the Yacht Club.

She is survived by a daughter: Sara Falk of Sturgeon Bay and Homes Beach, Florida; a son: Paul A. Fischl Jr. of Lake Mary, Florida; seven grandchildren: Lisa (Gary) Smith, San Francisco, CA, Susan Falk, Waukesha, Melanie (Charles) Webster, Manitowoc, Joel (Erin) Falk, Pewaukee, Melinda (Richard) Hall, Florida, Pamela Fischl, Texas and Paula Fischl, Florida; eight great grandchildren: Nikki & Kiefer Falk, Julia & Sara Falk-Mann, Michael, Maura & Rachel Falk, Blake Fischl; a brother and sister-in-law: Joe & Ruth Kaufmann, Manitowoc and a sister and brother-in-law: Agnes & A.J. (Bucky) Drobka, Milwaukee. Other nieces, nephews and godchildren: Tom, Jerry, Tom, Chris, Mary Jo, Paul, Margaret and Amy survive. Many friends, including the "Blossoms": Lois, Suzy, Kathy, Debbie, Sarah and Bob.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Paul A. Fischl; her parents; three brothers: Milton, Glen & Harry; sisters-in-law: Edna, Emily & Dottie; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Emma & Alois Fischl; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Al & Peg Fischl. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011, until 10:45 a.m.
