MILTON A. FRANKE

Milton A. Franke, age 83, of 1229 South 21st St., Manitowoc, died Sunday,
April 26, 1998, at the Manitowoc Health Care Center, where he resided for the
past five years.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at Wesley
United Methodist Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Jay
Smoke, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born December 21, 1914, in Manitowoc, son of the late Arthur and Ann
Reindl Franke. Milton graduated from Lincoln High School and then attended
college. On June 8, 1938, he married the former Eleanor Spevacek at St. Boniface
Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Milton was associated with A. H. Franke Company for
a number of years, and later was employed at J.C. Penney Company in Manitowoc,
retiring in 1980. He served in scouting for more than 25 years in various
capacities on the Council level. Milton was active in organizing the Men's Garden
Club, where he served as the first President and was the last surviving Charter
Member. He was also a member of the Manitowoc County Historical Society for more
than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and
Ann Franke, Davenport, Iowa, Robert and Judie Franke, Manitowoc, and Richard and
Linda Franke, West Bend, Wis.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
six sisters, Florence Knutson, Manitowoc, Grace Piece, Manitowoc, Violette
Garberg, Hutchinson, Minn., Carol Thiel, Manitowoc, Jeanette (Harold) Boldt,
Minneapolis, Minn., and Marjorie Allen, Manitowoc; two brothers, Russell
(Eleanore) Franke, Milwaukee, and Arthur (Mary) Franke, Florida. He was preceded
in death by one sister, Ethel Jagodinsky.
Friends may call at Wesley United Methodist Church from 9:30 a.m. Wedneday until
the time of services at 11 a.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
