Albert Franz, 72, of route 2, Manitowoc, retired Shoto farmer, dropped
dead of a heart attack early Sunday evening, while changing a tire on
his car three miles south of Two Creeks on highway 42.
Dr. Theodore Teitgen, who was summoned, announced there would be no
inquest.
Mr. and Mrs. Franz had been at Kewaunee for a visit with his sister, Mrs.
Rudolph Pilgrim, and were enroute home when a tire went flat. Mr. Franz
pulled the car to the side of the road and was removing the wheel from the
car when he collapsed.
Born in Germany in 1874, he accompanied his parents to Manitowoc when a
child. In 1899 he married Miss Lena Stueck and they lived for a time in
this city, when he was employed as a carpenter by the railroad. They then
moved to a farm near Shoto, now operated by his son, Emil. He retired a
few years ago.
Mr. Franz served 14 years as a supervisor on the Two Rivers town board and
for 17 years was a member of the Shoto district school board.
Survivors are his wife; son, Emil on the home farm; daughter, Mrs. Harvey
Kohlmeier of this city; three brothers, John, Alex and Fred of this city;
sister, Mrs. Pilgrim of Kewaunee; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First German
Evangelical Lutheran church with the Rev. Armin Roekle officiating. Burial
will be in Evergreen cemetery.
The body may be viewed at the Urbanek and Schlei funeral home after Tuesday
noon and will be moved to the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday to lie in state
until the hour of services.
