FLORENCE B. FRUM

Mrs. Florence Frum, 78, of 633 N. Sixth St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening
at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where she was confined a week after a
cerebral hemorrhage.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church,
Manitowoc, the Rev. Gervase Zanotti officiating. Cremation will follow.
Mrs. Frum was born Sept. 12, 1886, at New Orleans, La., daughter of the late
Frederick H. and Henrietta Post Bown. She was married to Charles Frum in 1911
at Lima, Peru, South America. Mr. Frum was sent to South America to supervise
installation of power machinery in the copper mines of the Andes Mountains.
He died in 1919. After his death Mrs. Frum came to Manitowoc and began to work
at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., as supervisor of the stenographic department.
She continued in the position for many years and also served as private
secretary to Charles C. West, president of the firm, until her retirement in
1955, after 36 years of service.
She started her working career in a sugar plantation at New Orleans after
studying at Sonie College.
Mrs. Frum was a charter member of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers Business and
Professional Women’s Club, member of the Lois Society of First Presbyterian
Church, Order of Eastern Star and the League of Women Voters.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Ethel) Engelbrecht, of Minneapolis, a
son, Charles E., of Manitowoc, a sister, Mrs. S. W. Randolph, of Manitowoc,
three grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 4 p.m. Friday until
11 a.m. Saturday and then at the church. An OES memorial service will be
conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church.
