"Lawrence Fuka, Sr., for many years the operator of the old Owl tavern in
Manitowoc, died at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, Wednesday night. He was 78.
Mr. Fuka, who had been ill for about a month, had resided at 1042A S. 20th St.,
Manitowoc. Funeral services conducted by the Manitowoc aerie of the Eagles, will
be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

"Fuka was born in Prairie du Chien, Wis., in 1875. He married Barbara Stangel in
Norman, Wis., in 1901. He operated taverns in Norman and Two Creeks for a number
of years before moving to Manitowoc in 1910. He took over the Owl tavern shortly
after and operated it until his retirement 20 years ago.

"Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Leonard LeClair of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, and
Mrs. Harold Martin of Chicago; a son, Lawrence Jr., of Manitowoc; two brothers,
John and Anton, both of Prairie du Chien; a sister, Mrs. Albert Honzel of
Prairie du Chien; and seven grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home
from noon Friday until time of services."
