Albert I. Gates, 78, of 520 S. 31st St., Manitowoc, died Saturday morning, Oct. 24, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. David Passet will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Gates was born July 30, 1903, at Two Rivers, son of the late Frank and Barbara Monka Gates. He married Dorothy Stronks, Oct. 3, 1929, at Two Rivers. The couple resided at Two Rivers until 1962 when they move to Manitowoc residing here since. Prior to his retirement in 1968 Mr. Gates had been employed at Hamilton Manufacturing Company where he held the position of supervisor of the steel plant. He was a member of Senior Citizens and the Manitowoc County Humane Society.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy; a son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Carol Gates of Littleton, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Larry Wojta of Manitowoc; four brothers, Joseph of Manitowoc, Anton, Alex and George of Two Rivers; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Shelson and Mrs. Celia Pleuss both of Manitowoc; four grandchildren, Craig and Alyson Gates of Littleton, Colo. and Mrs. Denise Elfering and Mrs. Cynthia Panosh of Two Rivers; two great grandchildren, Erin and Adam Panosh. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 o'clock to 9 o'clock this Sunday afternoon and from 9 a.m. Monday until the hour of services. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
