DEATH CLAIMS FRANK GIESE, HARDWARE MAN
Illness of Seven Months Ends In Death Tuesday; Hold Funeral Friday
Frank F. Giese, 74, 644 New York avenue, for more than 40 years a hardware
clerk in Manitowoc, died Tuesday afternoon. He has been ill since January.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Ernst Pleuse, 521 North Eighth street, and at 2 o’clock from the Immanuel
Lutheran church, Pine street, of which the deceased was a member. Interment will
be at Evergreen cemetery.
The deceased was born at South Milwaukee in 1859 and when a boy journeyed with
his parents to the town of Gibson where they located on a farm. Forty-eight years
ago Mr. Giese was married to Miss Emilie Schultz, and after seven years residence
in Gibson they came to this city where they since resided.
Mr. Giese entered the employ of the old Rand and Roemer hardware company and
continued in the employ of that firm and was also with the Blesch company, Worel,
Zeman and Stangel company and later the Stangel Hardware company. He continued
with the last named firm until his illness in January forced him to give up active
work.
Survivors are his wife and three daughters, Mrs. John Glander, Mrs. Ernst Pleuss
and Mrs. Herbert Mahnke, all of this city. There are also six grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Pleuss home on Nortth Eighth street this afternoon
from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home.
