Mrs. James Gill, 89, formerly of 422 N. Fifth St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday
at Maple Crest Nursing Home, Whitelaw.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Mittnacht Funeral Home and
at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Claude LeClair
will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Gill, nee Mary Bohman, was born Sept. 22, 1878, in the Town of Brillion,
Calumet County, daughter of the late Lawrence and Louise Gerl Bohman. She
attended school at Brillion and was employed in Chicago five years prior to
her marriage to James Gill June 1, 1904, at Brillion. The couple operated a
farm at Maple Grove and came to Manitowoc in 1933. They marked their golden
wedding anniversary in 1954, and he died in 1961. Mrs. Gill was an honorary
member, of Sacred Heart Rosary Society.
Survivors include two sons, George of Rt. 1, Reedsville, and John of Manitowoc;
five daughters, Mrs. Irving (Laura) Maney, Mrs. Wencel (Alice) Schleis, Mrs.
Harlan (Grace) Clark, Mrs. Robert (Florence) Johanek and Mrs. Clarence (Kathryn)
Jerabek of Manitowoc; a brother, Frank, of Brillion; 19 grandchildren and 32
great grandchildren. Two brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday where at 8 p.m. the
rosary will be recited by the Rosary Society and daughters of Isabella.
