ELTON G. GOMM

Elton G. Gomm, age 72, of 3605 W. Marshall St., Manitowoc, died Monday morning, Aug. 11, 2003, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the memorial service will be the Rev. Richard Miller with burial of the cremated remains at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date. He was born June 7, 1931, in Manitowoc, son of the late Ervin and Anita Ziebell Gomm. Elton was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1949. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. On Aug. 6, 1966, he married the former Louise Tadych in Manitowoc. Elton was employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding, Manitowoc Plumbing Supply and was currently employed at Jagemann Plating Company for the past 20 years as a rack repairman. Work was his hobby. Elton enjoyed working. Elton was a Cub Master of Pack 3942 at Ben Franklin School and was a commissioner in scouting for many years. He was also the president of the PTA at Ben Franklin School. Elton sang in the choir and was a Sunday School teacher at Immanuel Lutheran. He joined Redeemer Lutheran Church where he also taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and met many of the people that helped him with his Cub Scout Pack 3942 at Franklin School. Survivors include his wife: Louise (Tadych) Gomm, Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law: Kevin and Jessica (Jorsch) Gomm, Manitowoc; Steven and Kristina (Kappelman) Gomm, Two Rivers; six grandchildren: Mitchell, Nicholas, Justin, Ethan, Courtney and Jacob. Many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Ralph Gomm. The family will greet relatives and friends at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. A very special thank you to Dr. Andrew Yetter, Manitowoc Clinic; Dr. William Deshur, St. Luke's, Milwaukee; Dr. Rick Auchter, UW Cancer Center, Manitowoc; and their staff. Also to the nurses and staff of Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, St. Luke's Medical Center, Aurora Medical Center and Deb K. of Manitowoc VNA. Elton was a man with love in his heart and joy in his voice.
