Mr. William D. Grabinsky, 87, formerly of 1661 Laurel St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening, January 13, 1987 at St. Mary Home. Private funeral services will be 11 am Thursday at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. William B. Plank will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Grabinsky was born January 6, 1900 at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, son of the late Wilhelm and Mathilda Braeger Grabinsky. He was educated in Fond du Lac and upon leaving Fond du Lac High School, moved to Manitowoc in 1918. Mr. Grabinsky was involved in wholesale produce and grocery business his entire life beginning as a salesman and later a partner in the Quality Fruit Company the co-owner of Freidman and Grabinsky Fruit Company and was Manager of Northern Food Products upon his retirement in 1972.
He married Roma Rudebeck, June 28, 1927 at Manitowoc. She preceded him in death January 12, 1982.
For 23 years, Mr. Grabinsky was a member of the Manitowoc Police and Fire Commission serving as President several times. He was past President of the Manitowoc Braves Athletic Association and was past President of the Manitowoc Lions club and served as cabinet secretary and treasurer of the State Lions Club. Mr. Grabinsky was a member of Elks Lodge No. 687 and First Presbyterian Church of Manitowoc.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Keith C. Roberts of Des Moines, Iowa.
There will be no Wednesday visitation at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
