KATHARINE GRAHAM GRAY

SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK ON SATURDAY
Mrs. Theodore Gray Fails To Rally From Several Weeks Illness; Rites Today
Failing to rally from an illness which had kept her confined to her home for
several weeks, Mrs. Theodore Gray late Saturday afternoon succumbed to a heart
attack, the end coming suddenly.
Though her condition was such as to give no promise of an ultimate recovery,
the fatal attack which was unexpected, was a severe shock to family and friends.
Funeral services were held at the North Eighth street home at 2:30 today, the
Rev. Phipps officiating. Interment was at Evergreen. Pallbears were Walter
Hamilton, Guido Rahr, Luling Nash, Paul Schuette, A.L. Hougen and H.O. Wood.
Born In Janesville
Mrs. Gray was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Graham and was born in Janesville,
March 21, 1867. Her early life was spent in that city attending school there and
later she continued her education at Sacred Heart convent in Chicago.
She was married to Theodore Gray March 19, 1890. They lived in Whitewater where
Mr. Gray was engaged in business until 1898 when they came to Manitowoc.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Katherine Graham of Janesville, her husband,
Theodore, and three daughters, Mrs. George M. Pinney of Morristown, N.J., Helen
and Dorothy Gray.
Earnest Club Worker
For many years Mrs. Gray was a member and earnest worker in the Clio club, only
resigning after ill health prevented participation in the clubs studies and
activities. She will be long remembered for her hospitality and the lively wit and
pleasant humor that made her the center of every group. Friends will also cherish
the memory of her love of beauty, her cultured tastes and the alert mind that
attracted and held friends once gained. Her hospitality was gracious and unfailing
and her home a happy meeting place not only for friends of her own circle but also
for the younger people with whom she was a great favorite and who will feel her
loss as keenly as do those of her own generation.
