LOUIS G. GROELLE (d. 1966)

Louis Groelle, 95, former Town of Newton resident, died at 7:45 am Tuesday at
Park Lawn Home, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient since Feb. 18. Funeral
services will be at 1:30 pm Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral home, Manitowoc, the
Rev. Paul H. Blaufuss officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc.
Mr. Groelle was born April 7, 1870 in the town of Newton, son of the late Ludwig
and Margaretha Wehrwein Groelle. He married the former Emma Kamsier Feb. 24,
1900 in the Town of Newton. The couple farmed on Rt. 3, Town of Newton until
his semi-retirement in 1938. His wife preceded him in death April 9, 1946. He
moved to Manitowoc in 1947 and had resided at Shady lane Home For the Aged since
1960. He served as treasurer of District No. 7 School in the Town of Newton for
some 30 years.
Survivors include two sons, Delvin and Louis of Manitowoc, three daughters, Mrs.
Edward (Elma) Wessa and Mrs. Matthew (Irene) DeBruin of Milwaukee and Mrs.
Clarence (Ruth) Klusmeyer of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Hulda Fehrman of Manitowoc,
15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A son and daughter preceded him in
death in infancy. Three brothers and four sisters also preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 3 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
